The Five Typical Emotions of Persons Who are Anxious

 However, let's discover how life events may have been a contributing factor to some of your worrisome and anxious thoughts and feelings, and how you can begin to learn new positive, uplifting ways of thinking so you can find the anxiety relief you are looking for.

Lets Start with Step #1

In some cases, a cause or contributing factor of anxiety can be traced back to what I call a "sorrow." A sorrow includes the following:

  • Traumatic Life Events (dysfunctional early childhood, neglect, abuse, abusive relationships, job loss, divorce, financial setbacks, etc. )
  • Life not turning out as you anticipated
  • Not having the support and mentoring you needed.
  • Loss of Loved ones, through death, disagreements or separation.

  • Setbacks and Disappointments in Careers and Personal Life
  • Not enough resources (money, time, etc) to meet the demands placed upon you.
  • Too much being demanded of you!

Sorrow can make you feel incomplete, as if you do not have everything you need to be whole and successful. Some people report is feels as though a part of them is missing.

Then Step 2......

As a result of sorrow, we typically experience fear. For example, the:

  • Fear of experiencing a similar, or other, loss
  • Fear of being rejected by others because of our perceived deficiencies or inadequacies,
  • Fear of Failure...or sometimes...fear of success!
  • Fear of being harmed again in some way
  • Fear of not having enough resources to survive
  • Fear of being unable to live up to what is expected or demanded of us.

Fear and anxiety may go hand in hand. In some cases, fear may be a contributing factor in panic attacks or anxiety attacks.

Next, the....

Fear Creates Anger. Some people vent their anger at others, or are angry with God. This can create bitterness, cynicism and bitterness.  If this anger is turned inward against yourself,  it can be experienced as Guilt, Shame or Depressing thoughts.

In some cases, depression is anger turned inward towards yourself. In addition, feelings of anxiety may contribute to depression as well.

As a Result......

Self Esteem is often lowered and you may experience feelings of unworthiness. Your motivation and drive to try new things often decreases because you have less and less confidence in your abilities.

This lowered self-esteem can further fuel more anxious thoughts and may contribute to anxiety attacks.  

And Finally....

You Begin To Worry or Think Too Much, feeling anxious possibly creating feelings of anxiety or contribute to anxiety attacks.

You may worry about another sorrow issue occurring, but it can expand into worrying about many things, leaving you stressed out and feeling anxious and worried. As your mind fills with worry, your ability to perform tasks, interact with others, and sleep decreases. This adds to your anxious thoughts and feelings as well.

The Downward Spiral  

If left unchecked, this pattern may continue into a downward spiral, with each new sorrow creating more fear and more anxious thoughts or anxiety attacks.
